"Mrs. Henderson," she asked. "Is there a recessive trait that makes people not be able to have babies?"
....GUT PUNCHED...
I know that she knows nothing of my trials, so I didn't take it personally.
I was able to answer with a smile on my face, "Well, I sure hope not. That would be an awful trait to have, huh?"
Infertility still takes my breath away. It hurts. It stings. It is not right. It is not fair. It needs to go to hell. You would never wish it on your worst enemy, but then you wish that even your worst enemy might understand how much it really hurts like hell. Yes, there is some good that I am sure comes from it, but please, God- Take.It.Away.
**I have taken some time away from the blogs a bit to regroup myself, but I am back! There is a lot going on in our world that I will tell you about when I can. I have been catching up on all of your awesome posts and I am praying for you all by name!

Ouch. You're right, IF is the worst. It's such an attack on good marriages and a growing, faithful Catholic Church. Great answer to your student, by the way!
ReplyDeleteI can relate. Last year when we did some Theology of the Body, one of my teens in Confirmation prep asked if it was a sign that people weren't supposed to get married if they weren't able to have children. She had no idea, but that one hurt.
ReplyDeleteAwe I totally can relate to that, friend. My 7th graders ask me all the time "Mrs. Wood, when are you going to have a baby!!!" "You would be such a good momma!" Those comments force me to smile in front of them but it breaks me down in side. GO TO HELL IF!!!
ReplyDeleteHUGS around your neck and I hope you are well. If you need me, send me an email:)
